Crash Dad’s Car!
Posted in Ads, Gaming on February 22, 2008 by phelch66If any of you have kids who were into monster trucks in the last decade, the title of this post might make sense (see: There Goes a Monster Truck; and the series creator Dave Hood).
It’s relevant because my family and I have found a new unexpected diversion: the Xbox 360 game “Burnout Paradise” - and yes, this gets into interactive media and ads.
You drive around a huge city and suburbs, looking for races, things to crash and stunts to perform. There are billboards everywhere for everything from SlingBoxes to CompUSA to other EA driving games.
It is the best game of the year to date, given its wide-open environment and seemingly endless series of possible tasks. My wife has already logged more than 35 hours on it, and it is incredibly addicting. The only drawback - no way to play head-to-head on the same console - group play only possible online via Xbox Live.
But it still shows alternative ways of advertising, and even more could be possible (you possibly could text a good score or result to your friends, as a possible idea).
Mobile gaming is one thing, and I’m sure there could be a mobile spinoff of this game. But given the use of fictional locations here, what other tie-ins via a mobile phone could be coming?
